Electric Vehicle Servicing is vehicle specific – some makes and models will need more checks than others, than will incur more cost and time. We don’t make the rules on servicing, the manufacturers do, and we follow those guideline explicitly.
Our qualified IMI level 3 & 4 PHEV, MHEV, hybrid & EV technicians will be aware of any common faults, after all we know these cars like the back of our hands, we work on them daily. Our concern is longevity and to make your vehicle safe on the road. Our services will keep your car safe and reliable until the next service or MOT.
A service contains lots of checks that are not covered within a standard MOT, here is a list but it’s not extensive :
- Checking the auxiliary battery.
- Checking the brake fluid moisture content because with electronic braking systems you won’t feel a problem through the pedal, which can be problematic.
- Our manufacturer Diagnostic equipment is factory linked to the manufacturer; it checks details but doesn’t always give all the answers. This is where our trained technicians come in. They also check for corrosion or dirt on the charging connectors, which could lead to a build-up of heat which in turn damages the electrical connectors.
Electric Vehicle MOT
An MOT is a basic safety check, checking specific parts of the car in accordance with a general set of DVSA guidelines.An MOT is designed to ensure the vehicle is safe at the time of test. On an MOT, nothing is removed. If a wheel bolt is missing, the car will fail the MOT. If a missing wheel bolt cannot be seen because the car has plastic wheel trims, it will pass. The same applies to every part of the car.
In general, there is no difference between and standard Ice engine MOT and a PHEV, MHEV, hybrid & EV.

Remember, that all servicing and repairs can be conducted on your hybrid or electric vehicle without compromising your manufacturer’s warranty. Phoned Monday as car wouldn't start, told the earliest was Thursday but could leave car there. Dropped off car at around 1030. Got call at 1345 told couldn't find anything on initial diagnostic and needed another 2hr check. Got another call 1hr45 later saying problem had been found and parts ordered and would probably be ready Friday. Got call Wednesday saying car was ready. Brilliant and quick so friendly as well. Will now use as main garage.

Helpful, very friendly and efficient. Car was booked in for MOT. I decided to wait and was seated in the comfortable waiting area with TV and magazines and was offered a lovely coffee. The car was back within the hour. Would highly recommend.
